In July 2015, the SACSCOC Board of Trustees approved TSTC’s merger/consolidation of its four legacy colleges (Waco, Harlingen, Marshall, and West Texas) and approved off-site locations as a singly accredited, multi-campus institution with the Waco location serving as the main TSTC campus. As a result, TSTC operates under one set of state-wide operating standards and is considered a new institution from accreditation standpoint.
In accordance with SACSCOC’s policy on substantive change for mergers/consolidations, SACSCOC is required to conduct a full accreditation review of newly merged institutions within five (5) years of initial accreditation. By default, TSTC is in the SACSCOC Reaffirmation Class of 2020. TSTC’s road to accreditation affirmation begins with the submission of a compliance certification report and state-wide Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) in 2019, followed by on and off-campus site reviews, and final approval by the SACSCOC Board of Trustees in 2020.
During this process, TSTC will undergo a comprehensive review by SACSCOC of all its operations including all campuses and off-site locations at which postsecondary degree or non-degree work is offered as well as all work offered through distance education. Campus members are encouraged to ask questions as we thoroughly evaluate our services and programs for continuous improvement and to ensure fulfillment of TSTC’s mission and vision.
