New Student Orientation

Welcome, New Students!

Welcome to Texas State Technical College-Harlingen!  Our New Student Orientation program is mandatory for all new students and is required prior to registration for classes. New Student Orientation is designed to help you make the transition into college as smooth as possible.  It will help calm your nerves, answer any questions you might have and get you prepared for the many exciting challenges that await you at TSTC.

You will learn valuable information about financial aid, student housing and various other departments and organizations that will help you get the most out of your college experience.  Upon successful completion of the NSO program, you are graded for your satisfactory attendance and allowed to continue the registration process for the following semester’s courses.

Students will learn about:

• WebAdvisor and MyMail accounts
• Emergency Notification System
• Student Health Services
• Student Clubs & Organizations
• Support Services for Special Populations

On-Campus Orientation

New Student Orientations are scheduled from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Students must make arrangements to arrive on time. New Student Orientation is held at the TSTC Cultural Arts Center.  

Online Orientation

Students who are not able to attend On-Campus New Student Orientation, may complete Online New Student Orientation.  Students may register for classes 24 hours after completing the Online Orientation.  Students will not have their registration hold cleared untilthey have completed the entire orientation.  Students who participate in Online Orientation are still required to communicate with a program advisor prior to registering for classes.

All new students must complete the admissions process prior to registering for New Student Orientation.  To register for online or live orientation, students must call the College Information Office at 956.364.4117 or 956.364.4128.
