Housing Purpose Statement

The Housing Department supports the mission of the College and the Student Development Division by providing adequate and affordable housing in a safe, secure, and healthy environment.  The Housing Department also facilitates students' intellectual, personal and social development by providing an opportunity for democratic living where residents learn about themselves, other people, and life in general.

Policy & Procedure

It is the policy of Texas State Technical College-Harlingen to provide college housing facilities for unmarried and married students and their legal spouses and/or dependent children.

Occupancy of student housing is on a first-come, first-served basis without regard to the individual's sex, color, creed, age, religion, disability or national origin.  Students will not be allowed to move into the dorms during the last month of a semester.  Student must properly vacate housing upon withdrawal or graduation from Texas State Technical College.

Principles

  1. To maintain an environment conducive to students educational objectives. Develop and enforce rules and regulations governing residence life to provide a safe atmosphere.
  2. Occupancy of student housing is on a first-come, first-served basis without regard to the individual's sex, color, creed, age, religion, disability or national origin. 

Continuous Improvement

The Student Housing Committee meets every semester to discuss complaints, comments, or any suggestions that students may have. Students from family apartments and/or single student apartment/dorms are included in these meetings along with the a College Police officer and Health and Wellness Director.

Through the results of the Housing Committee Meetings, we continue to improve the quality of our Housing Department to students' needs.
