Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Sat., Sun.: Closed Student Orientation Welcome to Distance Learning at Texas State Technical College. We are glad that you are considered online courses at TSTC. It is our goal to ensure all online students are provided with the information they need to be successful in an online course. To do this, we will enroll you in an online student orientation course. The course is called OLSO – 0100. It will take about 4 hours to complete and you can access the course from any computer with an Internet connection. You may work through it all at once or work on it over several days. The course is required for all students new to online courses at TSTC. It will provide you with information on how to be successful in an online course, what student services are available, and how to use Moodle. You will be given a demonstration and then be expected to perform the assignments for each unit. You will have a final assessment, which you must pass with an 80% or better to receive a Satisfactory Score for the course. You may choose to retake the course if you do not complete the course successfully. Once you receive a Satisfactory Score, you will be allowed to stay enrolled in your online courses. If you do not successfully pass the course by May 4 (for Summer classes), you will be deregistered from the online courses in which you are enrolled. The deadline for completing the courses is as follows: For summer 2012 semester enrolled students, the orientation must be successfully completed by Friday, May 4, 2012. For fall 2012 semester enrolled students, the orientation must be successfully completed prior to Friday, August 3, 2012. The Department of Distance Learning will sign you up for OLSO – 0100.
