Asbestos Abatement Training Worker (English/Spanish)
Course Code: EPCT 1054
Information needed to be accredited as an asbestos abatement worker including detailed work practices, abatement procedures, personal protection, health effect considerations, relevant state and local regulations, and six hours of hands-on instructions. Designed for individuals and construction company employees who need to develop an approved set of skills to work on abestos abatement projects. Complies with Texas Department of State Health Servies Toxic Substance Control Division requirements. Identify the steps of safe work practices for asbestos abatement; demonstrate a fit-test on a respirator; and describe the skill-set needed to work on abestos abatement; demonstrate a fit-test on a respirator; and describe the skill-set needed to work on abestos abatement projects. Lab required.

This course provides a recap of information from the basic course and an update on new information not available at the time of initial instruction. Meets anual Encironemental Protection Agency (EPA) recertification requirements and Texas Department of Health Toxic Substance Control Division requirements. Identify the health and environmental hazards associated with abestos exposure; describe the work practices required for abestos removal, encapsulation, enclosure, and repair; and select types of personal protective clothing required for asbestos handling procedures.

Fire Extinguisher Training

A course in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards applicable to portable fire extinguihsers, classification of types of fires, and the appropriate extinguisher to use in each case. Topics include the extinguishing effect needed for each classs of fire, the Undrwriters Laboratory rating sytem, identification of fire extinguisher characteristics and operations, and demostrations of use of fire extinguishers. Apply proper extinguishing agent for selected fuels; operate various portable extinguishers; selected correct extinguisher; and use extinguisher while maintaining while maintaining safety. Forklift Operator Certification

Students will be receive information and training for forklift operators including forklift design, controls and instrumentation, comprehensive pre-use inspection, and forklift stability and factors affecting stability. Includes hands-on training and demostration of proficiency. Forklift training meets the Occupational Health and Safety Administrations (OSHA) Power Industrial Truck Standard (29 CFR 1910.178). Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a certification card valid for 2 years. Group rates are available for companies.
