First Aid/CPR/AED Certification

Lifesaving skills of respiratory (choking and near-drowing) and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants.  Automated Esternal Defibrillator inclusive. Instruction in first aid for injured and ill persons.  Students will discuss and demostrate assessment and management of injured and/or ill persons as recommended by the certifying agency.  Students must meet requirements as specified by the certifying agency.  Show proficiency according to current guidelines of the credentialing agency.  Lab is required.  Upon sucessful completion of the course, students will receive a certification card.

Licensure/Certification Agency:  American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, National Safety Council.

CPR Basic Life Support/1st Aid Instructor

Course Code: EMSP 1042

Educational theory and skills necessary to train basic life support instructors.  Topics include instructional methods, class motivation, audiovisuals, and mannequin care; display a working knowledge of basic life support and adult education; prepare and present lecture demonstrations on CPR; and exhibit attitudes and behavior consitent with the ethics and professionalism of instructors.  Course is presented under the guidelines of the American Hearth Association.  Manual w/ CD ROM not included.  Prerequisite: AHA Core Class.
