Real Estate Courses
These courses prepare students for the Texas real estate license examination. Each course counts towards the Texas Real Estate Commission's 210-hour classroom instruction requirement. Required courses for a license include Real Estate Principles I and II, Real Estate Law of Agency, Real Estate Law of Contracts, and Real Estate Finance. Real Estate Principles I
Course Code: RELE-1002
This course is an overview of licensing as a real broker and salesperson. The course includes ethics of practice; titles to and conveyance of real estate; legal descriptions; law of agency; deeds; encumbrances and liens; distinctions between personal and real property; contracts; appraisal, finance and regulations; closing procedures; and real estate mathematics. It also covers federal, state, and local laws relating to housing discrimination, housing credit discrimination, and community reinvestment. A minimum of 60 hours in Real Estate Principles are mandatory for a salesperson license in Texas. Book required.

Real Estate Law of Contracts

This course covers elements of a contract, offer and acceptance, statute of frauds, specific performance and remedies for breach, unauthorized practice of law, commission rules relating to use of adopted forms, and owner disclosure requirements.
