Basic Motorcycle Operator Training Course

This weekend course is for beginning motorcycle riders. It offers hands-on instruction and road experience that teaches students the skills they need to get the most out of riding. The class meets Friday evening from 6pm-10pm, Saturday and Sunday from 8am-5pm. Motorcycles and helmets are provided by TSTC for the course. Attendance to all three days is mandatory. Limit of 12 students per class. First Paid- First Serve Basis. After passing written and riding skills evaluation, students will receive an MSF Rider Course Completion Card that could exempt them from the riding portion of the motorcycle license test, as well as possibly qualify them for discounts on insurance. Due to the demand of this course, there are NO REFUNDS or schedule changes after the Tuesday (5pm) before the class begins.
Enrollment Eligibilities:
Applicants must have the ability to ride a bicycle (balance).
Basic motorcycle operator training courses are open to any person who is:
1. Physically and mentally capable of being licensed in Texas as a motorcycle operator; and
2. At least 15 years old but less than 18 years old may not be admitted to a basic motorcycle operator training course before providing proof of successful completion of the first six hours of the driver education course as required by the Texas Education Agency.
3. Proof of successful completion of the classroom driver education requirement is:
(1) A properly annotated Texas Driver Education Certificate, form DE-964 (E),
(2) An instructional permit for a Class C, or higher, driver license, or
(3) An unrestricted Class C, or higher, driver license is considered proof of completion of the driver education requirement.
Materials and Supplies Needed:
ü Eye Protection (eyeglasses or sunshades at a minimum)
ü Long sleeve ( long sleeve shirt or jacket)
ü Long pants (must cover the entire legs and ankles)
ü Over the ankle footwear (boots or high-topped shoes which cover the ankles)
ü Gloves (full fingered)
ü Rain gear or clothing changes (for inclement weather)

Advanced Motorcycle Operator Training Course
Course Code: XMISC 390
The Advanced Motorcycle Course is a state approved course that covers advanced turning and braking, evasive skills, street strategies, and special situations encountered by motorcycle riders. Students must supply their own motorcycle, helmet, gloves, and safety gear. Requirements: Students must have a motorcycle driver's license.
