The Academic Core with Field of Study in Business

Together the Academic Core with the Field of Study in Business is designed for students who intend to major in Business or a related field at another college or university.

Students with this field of study are preparing for experiences in administration, accounting, marketing and sales, management, and internal auditing.

Students must complete all the requirements for the Academic Core before they can qualify for the Field of Study in Business designation.  Field of study courses can be taken while students are taking Academic Core classes.  After completing the Academic Core with field of study students will be eligible to transfer courses as a block to another Texas public college or university that accepts the field of study toward its majors.  TSTC Harlingen’s Academic Core will substitute for the Academic Core at any Texas public college or university and the field of study will substitute for most of the major requirements for Freshmen and Sophomores at the new college or university.*

*  Note:  Students who have been enrolled at or become enrolled at the Texas public college or university they intend to graduate from before completing the TSTC Harlingen Academic Core and field of study are subject to the Academic Core and field of study requirements at the gaining college or university.  Courses can be transferred individually to fulfill the requirements of the gaining institution.
